[英文听写] ----Today I want to talk about the earth last major climatic shift at the end of the last Ice Age. But first, let's backup a moment and review what we know about climatic change in general. Firs we defined climate as consistant patterns of weahter over significant periods of time. In general, changes in climte occur when the energy balance of the earth is disturbed. Sollar engery enters the earth's atomsphere as light and it's radiated by the earth surface as heat. Land, water and ice, each affects this energy exchange differently. The system is so complex that today our best computer models are only crude of proximations, and are not sophisticated enough to test hypothesis about the courses of climatic change. Of couse, that doesn't keep us from speculating. For instance, volcanic activity is one mechanism that might affect clamitc change. When large volcano errupt, they dispurse tons of partical into the atomsphere where the partical then reflect light. Since less light is entering the system of energy exchang, the result would be cooling of the earth surface. Of course, this is just one possible mechanism of global climatic change. In all probability, the complete explaination would evlove sereral diffirent mechanisms operating at the same time.
